UFC 100 and beyond: no sign of a slowdown
By Aki Kuwabara 2009-07-04 13:52:52
On April 9, the UFC saw the tickets for its historic UFC 100 event sell out in record time. The mad rush of rabid fans clamoring for a piece of UFC history indicates that mixed martial arts is a major sport that likely will not see any sign of slowdown – and that the UFC brand [...] Read Full Article >>
Lesnar far different from most heavyweights
By Jeremy Botter 2009-07-03 20:10:55
He’s a very big man. You were well aware of this, of course. But standing next to Brock Lesnar gives a true sense of just how big her really is. His 280 pounds are filled to the brim with hard-earned muscle, the kind that typically only starts to develop on farms in the Midwest where he [...] Read Full Article >>

Magnolia Electric Co. – Josephine Review

Jason Molina is an old soul. Top Ten UFC Fighters of all Time
By Brian Oswald 2009-07-03 14:00:06
With UFC 100 upon us it’s only natural to contemplate the best of the best to emerge from the first ninety nine fight cards. UFC 1 took place back on November 12, 1993 with Royce Gracie winning an eight-man single elimination tournament format. The matches then ended only by submission, knockout, or throwing in the [...] Read Full Article >>
More Reasons Why Being Deaf Sucks/Rocks – Of the Moment
By Mathan Erhardt 2009-07-03 12:10:23
I love Jay-Z, and "D.O.A." is a dope song (with a sick beat), but he seems to be coming off as a bit of a grumpy old man. He's bordering on a "back in my day" mentality. He's singing the same song that Nas did on Hip-Hop Is Dead. ... Read Full Article >>
Before UFC 100: Tragedy Strikes A Champion
By Todd Jackson 2009-07-03 00:14:54
Tonight he fights a giant.  A behemoth of a man.  At 16-0, 6ft 8, 265 lbs Tim Sylvia is enough to intimidate any man. Alas, rarely does an ordinary man breach the doors of the Octagon. Frank Mir knows if he can conquer this man something grand indeed will be his reward. The UFC Heavyweight Championship Belt had no [...] Read Full Article >>
Should Georges St-Pierre move to the Middleweight division'
By Brian Oswald 2009-07-02 20:43:34
The answer to that question will hinge on the outcome of his welterweight title defense at UFC 100. While some will balk at the notion of St. Pierre moving up to the heavier division support for such a move will reach its tipping point if he comes out of his fight with Thiago Alves still [...] Read Full Article >>
I’m Just Sayin’…#65
By Greg Manuel 2009-07-02 17:31:29
When I read about this, all I could think of was "awwwww crap. I don't want to see Iron Fist in THUNDERBOLTS - I wanna see him in HIS OWN BOOK!" And I'll tell ya, I'd like to think I wasn't the only one who had that reaction. Marvel had something truly special with THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST, and as much as I realize that newer monthlies have a much shorter shelf life these days, it doesn't seem worth it to me that, from the looks of things, Marvel seems willing to let this one go on the gamble that at least SOME readers will follow Danny Rand over to a comic that has, by and large, been rendered redundant by DARK AVENGERS. Sigh, and sigh AGAIN. Read Full Article >>
A Modest Blog on MVP in the Main Event
By Aaron Glazer 2009-07-02 15:54:59
I constantly hear about how great MVP is from various columnists and message board posters around the internet. Apparently, he’s the next big thing and should be pushed to face Randy Orton pretty much immediately. Trained in front of all of us by Chris Benoit, he’s among the more differently styled workers in the WWE, cuts a great promo, and even has the crowd interaction portion of his moveset down cold. He’s basically got it all… so why doesn’t the crowd react more to him' Read Full Article >>

Circulatory System – Signal Morning Review
By Tom Williams 2009-07-02 13:31:15
There, deep in the nether regions of space, a small crack forms in the absolute blackness of nothing, before quickly bursting into a circular tear that burns through space like film celluloid. This tear is quickly followed by a glass-like shattering of the cosmos and the space-time continuum itself rips apart. A [...] Read Full Article >>

A Modest Blog on the Raw Main Event
By Aaron Glazer 2009-07-01 17:04:16
The Raw main event was an abortion of booking. It is the most stunted and short sighted option possible for the three men who came to Raw from ECW. What occurred, for those of you who missed it, is that Randy Orton faced Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, and Mark Henry in a guantlet, in that order. He beat Bourne, Swagger walked out, then lost to a Mark Henry in what constituted a face-turn for Henry. What a waste. Read Full Article >>
Video Hook-Up: Dirty Projectors – “Stillness Is The Move”

10 Thoughts on TNA iMPACT! – 7.3.09

1. So, Mick Foley is a babyface because he hates the Main Event Mafia. But he also feuds with Jeff Jarrett, another babyface, but Foley is more the heel in that feud. Everwood: The Complete Second Season – DVD Review
By Josh Clinton 2009-07-03 21:52:43

Magnolia Electric Co. – Josephine Review
By Dan Berkman 2009-07-03 14:08:48
Jason Molina is an old soul. Nearly a decade ago when he released his debut record, Songs: Ohia, it was quite clear that he had been around the block and like John Prine before him, Molina has a voice and songs with a depth, fragility, authority and tragedy that simply shouldn’t belong to someone so [...] Read Full Article >>

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Developer: Luxoflux Publisher: Activision Genre: Action Release Date: 6/23/2009 So a few months ago I’d written up a brief summary of 25 years of Transformers games, and commented that we really hadn’t been given one that matched up to what most fans wanted out of a Transformers game (sorry Alex, no Grimlock or Predaking yet).
